Purpose

Manage the confirmation process of bond and money market trades in the market and ensure that the team enriches the data sent from the front office order management system correctly into the investment system to ensure these trades can be matched.

Minimum Experience

3 - 5 years experience in a similar environment, of which 1 - 2 years at junior management level

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Finance Economics and Accounting

Process

  • Accountable for maintaining quality, service and outputs related to a work area, ensuring compliance with set policy, procedures and standards.
  • Proactively identify operational problems, determine cause and effect, select and implement the best solution to solve problems based on previous experience and understanding of the context.
  • Plan for and organise multiple work activities for team execution by assigning priorities against the set framework in light of the specific situational context.
  • Have a full understanding of all the processes in order to manage the staff effectively in getting trades processed accurately and timeously.
  • Have a sound understanding of the internal (Hiportfolio and Charles River) /external systems and applications in order to assist Trade Processing Administrators with any issues encountered
  • Ensure the relevant recons are reviewed on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that Capital Market, Money Market and Unit Trust deals are processed timeously, accurately and that all associated daily reporting is completed and all daily deals reconciled with the matching team.
  • Review of internal checklists and systems to ensure that the administrators have processed the transactions accurately and timeously.
  • Ensure that the security setups agree to the deal sheets and that the various systems (dashboard/Hiport and Charles River) are correctly updated to reflect this information to ensure that the instruments are valued correctly.
  • Ensure that the Liberty cash management is done timeously and details accurately sent to dealing room and Finance and the associated daily reporting completed to ensure accurate cash management on the Liberty accounts.
  • Managing and resolving all ad hoc queries timeously and accurately with internal as well as external parties.
  • Ensure that the daily log is updated for all issues encountered including PL amounts for weekly and monthly reporting purposes.
  • Effective liaison with internal and external parties, including custodians to ensure effective and timeous resolution of queries.
  • Project involvement in any ad hoc projects required in order to align processes and systems with new market developments and to ensure operational excellence.
  • Continual review of current processes with a view to increasing automation.
  • Facilitate on the job training of new employees as well as training of existing employees to reinforce internal processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a constant thirst for knowledge surrounding this field and for questioning internal systems and processes so that such systems can be continually improved.

Finance

  • Compile a budget aligned to the operational or area specific delivery of plans; monitor and report on variances and make sure that planned objectives are reported, escalating any deviations.
