Snr Specialist: IT Workflow and Configuration

Business Unit

Group Investment Platform (GIP) is a technology and administration capability that supports financial advisers

(Both tied and independent) in servicing their client's investments in one place in a digital-first manner using best 

of breed global technologies to construct this platform and is the first investment provider in South Africa to do so. 

The first proposition built on this platform, targeted at independent financial advisers, is live and is known as INN8.  


To assist the Workflow and Config manager in designing, developing and maturing the workflow component of the GIP’s administration system.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work with the proposition, operations, change and development teams to assist in solving business issues and designing business solutions by configuration or workflow design, to deliver superior customer experiences and a low ‘cost to serve’ operation.
  • Critically analyse and document stated customer requirements and act as a consultant in providing considered feedback based on knowledge of business and systems environments in order to deliver the best solution to meet the customer needs.
  • Provide input into, facilitate and manage (where required) Business Case development.
  • Provide proactive, on-going support to cross functional teams and team members in order to support a mature working environment, including assisting with production support and migration related tasks and issues when required.
  • Plan and Create workflow and configuration capabilities
  • To document business and system processes
  • To execute and manage the workflow and configuration capabilities
  • To adapt workflow and system configuration when new business requirements arise
  • Ensure any changes made drive operational efficiency and are well controlled and managed
  • To allow the business to track and report on workflow
  • To be the guardian of our system configuration and workflow solution



  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Financial Adviser firm, Financial Services Customer Service or an Investment Platform business.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Experience in solving complex problems for customers (internal or external).
  • Experience in building successful relationships and working collaboratively across departmental teams.
  • Experience at working in a fast paced, proactive and delivery focused environments.
  • Experience with a recognisable programming language – Java (preferable but not essential) - This is important for the mindset that having been a developer brings, more so than needing code.  The scripting language in workflow is relatively simple.

Additional Experience

  • Experience of calling web services – particularly SOAP
  • Experience of XPath/XML manipulation
  • Experience of Basic HTML
  • Experience of using a modelling tool/language Visio, UML, BPMN etc.
  • Experience of working with a Business Process Management/Workflow product
  • Demonstrable analysis, assessment and problem-solving skills and experience
  • Experience of facilitating business discovery workshops.
  • Understanding of Lean, SIPOC or similar analysis techniques
  • Experience of documenting processes using Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN)
  • Experience in Bizagi tools (engine and modeller) or any experience on AWD, Global360, Appian or Pega
  • Experience with JSON and angular design.


  • Relevant Commerce degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Investment Management or Business Management.
  • Higher grade maths (or equivalent)
  • Relevant qualification in System or Business Analysis
  • Multilingual (Advantageous)
  • LEAN, Six Sigma or equivalent process engineering qualifications
  • ITIL service management (foundation level)
