Purpose

To provide specialist advice & support in order to deliver production analysis activities, through the execution of predefined objectives as per agreed (SOPs).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Information Technology and Computer Sciences

Additional Minimum Qualifications

  • CA
  • CFA
  • Actuary
  • MBA

Minimum Experience

  • 2-3 years in a similar environment.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in the investment industry.
  • Functional industry knowledge, at minimum.
  • Knowledge of legislation: FICA, FAIS, CISCA, Pension Funds Act, Long term insurance act.
  • Knowledge of tax rules and processes.
  • Investment platforms.

Additional Minimum Experience

  •  Discretionary and Pre and post retirement solutions and vehicles.
  • Mancos and Unit Trusts.
  • Discretionary Fund management and Model portfolios.
  • Share portfolios.
  • Offshore investment vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • New product development; Product enhancements.
  • Regulatory impact analysis on clients/advisors/business/processes and implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Scoping of proposition requirements and testing of solutions.
  • Proposition representative on projects.
  • Commercial impact analysis.
  • Drafting of business and IT proposals.
  • Drafting and review of internal and external correspondence.
  • Representation on industry bodies such as ASISA where required.
  • Best practice analysis; Competitor and trend analysis. Presenting and training; Management of relationships with senior staff in the Business Units as well as with Compliance, IT and Marketing.
  • Management of 3rd party relationships (e.g. software vendors and technology suppliers).

  • A deep understanding of investment and life products (to subject matter expert level) in order to talk about investments confidently
  • Understand how best to excite and engage business stakeholders
  • Know how to ensure the training and associated changes in behaviour are embedded in the business.
  • An understanding of financial services regulation as it relates to investment platform providers.
  • An in depth understanding of providing solutions and experiences which delights financial advisers.
  • A clear understanding of how an adviser’s business works.

Process

  • Apply relevant research methodologies, tools and techniques to effectively and purposefully gather information.
  • Investigate and analyse business requirements and current systems to provide input into the design of processes addressing these needs.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and to analyse needs in terms of reporting requirements and advise on possible MIS outcomes.
  • Provide specialist advice and support in area of accountability to ensure that identified solutions and recommendations are appropriate and effective.
  • Comprehensively test solution to ensure delivery according to identified requirements and document changes for recording and governance purposes.
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions.
  • Accountable for the execution of specialised work including the improvement of quality, standards and outputs within defined work routines and operating procedures.
  • Proactively solves problems, determines root-cause and applies solutions in line with guidelines and providing the necessary information to solve problems related to area of specialisation.
  • Plan for own task execution and advises on improvements related to area of specialisation.

Customer

  • Ensure own understanding and adherence to customer service delivery and Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles to provide specialist support and guidance.

Finance

  • Adhere to specified standards, policies and procedures to prevent potential losses/wastage related to the area of specialisation.
