The purpose of the role is to lead the way on a number of key strategic projects that will position the business for long term success and financial performance. Creating new and updating existing products and services, redefining user journeys and using the technology of tomorrow to redefine the way advisers and their clients do business.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Generic Management

Additional Minimum Qualifications

  • CFA, Actuary, or equivalent investment qualifications.
  • Relevant Professional qualification (e.g. CA, MBA, business degree)

Minimum Experience

5 - 8 years experience in a similar environment, of which 2 - 3 years at specialist level

Additional Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the investment industry
  • Experience in building successful relationships and working collaboratively
  • Ability to navigate and discern complex requirements.
  • Experience at working in a fast paced, proactive and delivery focused environments

Key Responsibilities

  • New product development; product enhancements.
  • Regulatory impact analysis on clients/advisors/business/processes and implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Scoping of proposition requirements and testing of solutions.
  • Proposition representative on projects and features.
  • Commercial impact analysis. Drafting of business and IT proposals.
  • Drafting and review of internal and external correspondence.

Additional Key Responsibilities

  • Representation on industry bodies such as ASISA where required.
  • Best practice analysis; Competitor and trend analysis.
  • Presenting and training; Management of relationships with senior staff in the Business Units as well as with Compliance, IT and Marketing.
  • Management of 3rd party relationships (e.g., software vendors and technology suppliers).
  • Functional industry knowledge, at minimum: Knowledge of legislation: FICA, FAIS, CISCA, Pension Funds Act, Long term insurance act; Knowledge of tax rules and processes. Investment platforms; Discretionary and Pre and post retirement solutions and vehicles; Unit Trust Management Companies and their products; Mancos and Unit Trusts, Discretionary Investment Management and Model portfolios; Share portfolios. Offshore investment vehicles.
  • Facilitate workshops to maximize outcomes, able to present ideas convincingly.

  • Responsible for maintaining a body of knowledge on current and emerging investment propositions.
  • Accountable for contributing to strategy enablement and implementation and delivery optimisation across an internal value chain, through best practice development and implementation.
  • Draw on own technical and/or professional knowledge and experience to proactively develop alternatives and identify optimal best practice solutions for tactical problems.
  • Plan to deliver work outputs related to a service or operational area, Manages interdependent functional activities, and directs best-practice priorities, standards and procedures to ensure efficiency within area of specialisation.
  • Product Development of new products (or enhancement of existing products) for various regions/channels and on-going product lifecycle management.
  • Partner with leadership across business to improve end-to-end customer experience by owning product design and development.
  • Partner with Investment Management to create and update a strong, consistent suite of core products including marketing and client-service materials, in collaboration with marketing colleagues.
  • Seek broad feedback from investment management and distribution to identify areas for improvement.
  • Understand overall client segment/region/channel strategies across Retail and Institutional distribution channels to ensure products remain relevant and competitive.
  • Define focus areas, business development initiatives, areas for training, and develop target lists.
  • Partner with RFP (Request For Proposals) team to ensure a consistent implementation of strategy positioning and language across products as well as updates in respects of performance composites.
  • Responsible for working closely with product marketing team to assist in informing product campaigns and determining what products or services need marketing.
  • Identify areas for thought leadership that connect with their product responsibilities.


  • Responsible for the on-going monitoring of existing propositions ensuring these continue to meet customer needs, commercial promise as well as investment governance standards.
  • Organises regular product reviews with key stakeholders to evaluate product performance, elicit feedback and identify improvements in the product proposition going forward.
  • Provide authoritative, specialist expertise and advice to internal/external customers, that builds strong relationships and creates a favourable impression aligned to Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles.


  • Implement and monitor financial controls, management of costs and corporate governance throughout the area of specialisation.
