Purpose

  • To provide advice and support in area of specialisation and enable the design, creation, development and documentation of data governance requiremenrs according to set parameteres.
  • The purpose of the job is to perform the role of a Senior Data Management and Reporting Specialist within the Liberty Financial Solutions (LibFin) environment.
  • LibFin is responsible for Liberty’s Asset and Liability Management (ALM), a key component in delivering LibFin’s objectives is the ability to consume, store, enhance, generate, analyse data and generate reports to various stakeholders and decision makers.

Minimum Experience

3 - 5 years experience in a similar environment, of which 1 -2 years at a junior specialist level

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Information Technology and Computer Sciences

Outputs

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring daily SLAs are met with respect to the extraction, transformation, storing and dissemination of:
  • Market Data
  • Transaction Data
  • Static Data
  • Profit and Loss Reports
  • Risk Reports – Market, Liquidity and Credit
  • Financial Reports – Trial Balance, Balance Sheet and Income Statement
  • Implementing new projects from a Data Management and Reporting perspective, this includes working with the following teams:
  • Business Analysis

  • Formal and informal stakeholder communication and management within LibFin and the broader Liberty Group
  • Help business find and understand data stored and maintained within the LibFin environment
  • Be an active member of the Data Governance Committee, this would include ensuring LibFin implements sound Data Governance practices
  • Vendor and Contract Management in support of Data Management and Reporting objectives and deliverables
  • Stewardship and custodian of LibFin’s data assets and be accountable for the Data architecture of Libfin
  • Adhere to Group policies on Data management
  • Be an active member of the Libfin IT Manco by providing strategic input and direction on LibFin’s IT Leading and managing the Data team

Process

  • Understand the interdependence and integration of different systems and related processes to apply practically in an area of work.
  • Provide specialist advice and support in area of accountability to ensure that identified solutions and recommendations are appropriate and effective.
  • Comprehensively test solution to ensure delivery according to identified requirements and document changes for recording and governance purposes.
  • Accountable for the improvement of quality, service and work outputs, continuously recommending improvements.
  • Plan for the organisation of work outputs and process improvement activities in light of a specific situational context related to the area of specialisation.
  • Proactively identify area of specialisation related problems, determine cause and effect and recommend the best option to implement corrective action based on previous experience.

Customer

  • Provide specialist expertise and advice to internal/external customers, that builds strong relationships and creates a favourable impression aligned to Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles.

Finance

  • Adhere to financial controls, governance and compliance policies and processes throughout an area of specialisation, contributing to cost efficiency.

  • Interact proactively with others for the purpose of continuous knowledge sharing; and integration of own new knowledge.
  • Contribute positively to human capability improvement, related to knowledge optimisation and associated with area of specialisation.

Competencies

  • 10+ years industry experience
  • Working with data management solutions specifically in tahe financial industry
  • Investment Banking, with a preference for exposure to Treasury or Markets (Trading) environment.
  • Track record of delivery and of being a key contributor in a team construct and across various value chains.
