Senior Specialist: IT Integration

Purpose

To provide advice in the development & implementation of planning & associated processes, methods and techniques; enabling the maintenance & support of IT integration.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Information Technology and Computer Sciences

Additional Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in Technology
  • Current technical certifications relevant to Integration technologies and patterns

Minimum Experience

3 - 5 years experience in a similar environment, of which 1 -2 years at a junior specialist level

Additional Minimum Experience

  • At least 5 years’ technical experience in an Investment Platform or similar business
  • At least 5 years’ experience in middleware development, support, integration, and management of complex applications using best modern practices
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Experience in solving complex problems for customers (internal or external).
  • Experience in building successful relationships and working collaboratively with external vendors.
  • Experience at working in a fast paced, proactive and delivery focused environments.
  • Working knowledge on messaging frameworks such as JSON, REST, XML, SOAP or web services

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Developers and Architects in designing and developing integration configurations based on business requirements and that support the overall system architecture principles.
  • Analyze and implement integration capabilities and patterns to meet business demands, aligned to Group Architecture.
  • Create and maintain documentation for integration installations, changes, and upgrades.
  • Incident response in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in timely and accurate manner to improve application performance and functionality.

 

Additional Key Responsibilities

  • Work with business partners to communicate overall technology capacity to support business priorities for the specific business services / processes under responsibility.
  • Direct the preparation and execution of Integration production procedures.
  • Responsible for managing technical activities of integration partners.
  • Responsible for ensuring continual improvement of key platform integrations to achieve efficient and effective integration,
  • Recommend, design the internal integrations and ensure that there is technical expertise in the team which reduces reliance on external vendor development
  • Responsible for ensuring continual improvement of key platform integrations to achieve efficient and effective integration.
  • Responsible for managing technical activities of integration partners.
  • Triage and resolve issues related to integration.

Outputs

  • A deep understanding of investment and life products (to subject matter expert level) in order to talk about investments confidently.
  • An in depth understanding of providing solutions and experiences which deliver seamless and elegant design and user experience.
  • Web services messaging and business logic layer (SOAP and RESTful) and familiarity with WSDL’s, JSON, and XML.
  • XML integration and data transfer
  • Understanding of the technology organization and / or business and technology.
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Working knowledge of Web Applications.
  • Working knowledge in solving integration incidents
  • A strong understanding of change management processes.
  • A broad enterprise-wide view of the end-to-end business and a relevant degree of appreciation for strategy, processes and capability, enabling technologies and governance.

Process

  • Identify, diagnose and recommend improvements and provide specialist advice and support; ensuring that solutions are appropriate and effective.
  • Use practical knowledge and theoretical guidelines, to diagnose area of specialisation problems and generate workable solutions.
  • Understand the interdependence and integration of different systems and related processes to make informed improvement recommendations.
  • Advise on and maintain mainframe data files in development; creating new files and modify existing files as per user requirements.
  • Effectively execute batch jobs in the non-production environments; on request and to simulate production schedules.
  • Extract or copy data for use by development and testing resources and maintain the viability of data by doing refreshes and re-extracts.
  • Accountable for the improvement of quality, service and work outputs, continuously recommending improvements.
  • Plan for the organisation of work outputs and process improvement activities in light of a specific situational context related to the area of specialisation.
  • Proactively identify area of specialisation related problems, determine cause and effect and recommend the best option to implement corrective action based on previous experience.

Customer

  • Provide sound consulting services and recommendations based on customer and client needs, current information and trends analyses.
  • Provide specialist expertise and advice to internal/external customers, that builds strong relationships and creates a favourable impression aligned to Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles.

  • Adhere to financial controls, governance and compliance policies and processes throughout an area of specialisation, contributing to cost efficiency.
